Clinical Relevance

The sole, also called Dover sole, black sole, true sole, tounge, etc, is a highly valued fish. The name sometimes refers to all members of the family Soleidae, and also frozen fillets of other cheaper flatfishes, e.g. flounders or dabs from the family Pleuronectidae, may appear on the market falsely labeled as sole. Clinical sensitivity and IgE anti-bodies against sole were studied and discussed in relation to sensitivity to other types of fish.
