Overview
Savin tops are the young shoots and twig tips of an evergreen shrub. The shoots, twig tips, and leaves are used to make medicine.
People have used savin tops to end a pregnancy (abortion), but there are serious safety concerns, including toxic effects and death.. Some people apply a powder made from savin tops directly to the skin to treat genital warts, but this can cause severe irritation.
Warts, including genital warts, are caused by viruses. Savin tops contain chemicals that might be able to fight some viruses.
