Casein Protein

OTHER NAME(S): casein hydrolysate, casein protein, hydrolyzed casein

Overview

Casein protein is one of the two main proteins found in cow’s milk. It is a complete protein that is absorbed slowly by your body. It is often used for various health purposes, but its benefits for any use are not well defined. Common side effects include diarrhea, gas, or an upset stomach, although different forms of casein may cause different side effects. Before taking casein protein, tell your health care provider about all of your health conditions and any medicines or supplements you may be using, especially if you have lactose intolerance or a milk allergy.
