Bifidobacterium Breve

Overview

Bifidobacterium breve (B. breve) is a probiotic bacteria that is found in some fermented foods and available over the counter as a supplement. It is commonly used for weight loss and to improve gut health, but its benefits are not well defined. Common side effects include gas and an upset stomach. Serious side effects are rare and include infections in some people who are at high risk for infections. Before taking B. breve, make sure to tell your health care provider about any health conditions you have or medicines you are taking.
